The new marshmallow app settings (and no doubt other places as well) use a GUI button that looks like a cylinder in a slot and the cylinder slides back and forth when you toggle it. When the cylinder is on the left, the color is grey, when the cylinder is on the right, the color is green. So I have a toggle I can set to two different positions. Which one means "on"? My intuition utterly fails me at trying to guess the answer here. I have indeed seen physical switches that are similar, and I've never noticed any kind of convention they follow for direction of on or off, so if they are trying to use something familiar here that I'll understand intuitively, they have failed utterly :).
