Why are there no small smartphones anymore?

And when I say SMALL I really mean that because anything above 11.5 cm to 12 cm seems medium to me and anything above that seems plain big or giant like 14 or 15 cm phone. Don't they have the technology to build a great small 4 inch screen smartphone with decent front and rear cameras and a smooth android version? They do! Then why not give us such phones because there are enough people who would like decent sized screens and small and great smartphones! -- So, WHY are there no small smartphones anymore?

Screen on while charging repeatedly with input from user

Hi guys need a help here. So, my nexus 6p screen toggles on once every minute or so while charging and i can't figure out what caused it. This is without input from the user.
i'm running stock rom 6.0.1 with elementalx 1.02, rooted with double tap 2 wake enabled.

What is the normal CPU temperature ?

With normal tasks such as browser, phone and messaging, the CPU temp of my phone is around 38-40. With tasks as YouTube and graphics intense games it's between 50-55. At this point, the phone feels really hot.

Are these expected temp level or is there some problem with my phone?

here comes a long story.
i tried to install this custom xtended navbar to my phone. it required the xposed framwork in order to work (so i downloaded it). after this it gave a warning messae that this might not be compactible with my cpu's architecture. (but since i was a savage i decided to reboot anyways and try to install it)
so, the phone boots and everything seems to be ok but when i had typed my pin i noticed my navbar and and notification bar were missing. so did some googling and tried to restore those with apps found on google play plus using a build.prop editor. (nothing)
so i decided to do a factory reset. (bad idea) this didn't help at all. only thing that happened was that i lost my connection.
well then i decided to ge back the stock rom by using the honor 6 multitool.
>i installed stock recovery (emui 3.0 for build 370) after this i flashed all those 4 .img files shown in this guide. (they are for B370)
>then i did the rest of the guide. "then reboot into recovery by doing
fastboot.exe reboot and holding only VOLUME UP button
than do all the wipe (cache and data) than reboot system"
>this is when it went to bootloop and didn't boot to emui recovery

please help, i don't know what to do.

Trouble with Galaxy S4 i9500

Hello.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 i9500. I got it about 2 years ago. About a year after purchase I rooted the phone to install a backup software, but I did not know that rooting would disable software updates and when I found out that S4 had gotten the Lolipop update but my phone wouldn't show anything for two months, I decided to install the "original" Lolipop from Samsung. I found it on a website which I do not remember anymore.

Well here's where the problem starts - Apparently my phone was from Korea and it was imported to India. As a result of me installing an OS made for India on a Korean phone, the SIM wouldn't work and the OS ran very crappily. I got the SIM unlocked by an operator but the OS just sucks really bad. It gets stuck very often, apps close randomly and they behave as if they have been relaunched every 5-10 mins. Sometimes if I'm playing music the player will stop mid-track and I have to press play again. The menu and homescreen also do the same thing, keep behaving as if they have been relaunched every few minutes or every time I unlock the screen.

Any idea what I can do to fix my phone? I'm ready to go back to a previous version of android if that means a smooth, non-annoying experience.

Notification too loud - more volume steps needed

Is it possible to add more volume steps to the ringtone and notification sounds? Currently there are 7 steps. With xposed gravity box I was able to push media volume steps to 50! Is there some program out there which can do this?

GPS not working properly

Hello:

I have a Moto x play xt1563 dual sim from Brasil. I live in argentina and the GPS is really bad, i can't get good signal and give me an error of 150 mts, if i use gps status i can see that the signal level is very low and only track 3 satellites max. Sometimes it lost track completely. In the other hand i have a moto g first gen xt1032 and the gps work perfect, good signal, lots of tracking and no signal lost, error of 3 meters. Tested both in a third floor sky open. In this way the gps is useless and a pain in the ass.
In some internet sites like gsmarena they say that this device don't hace glonass. Does jt have it? If no can this be the problem? Anyone having this issue?

Any tips for better photos?

I get some distortion or blur if there's any movement when I take a picture. Im not talking about anything high speed, just my dog or my 2 year old. If she moves her head just a little, the picture doesn't turn out and her face is half or completely blurred. If she sits still, no problem. I've rarely had this problem with my xperia zl.

I'm using the latest marshmallow update. I had the same issue on lollipop. I've tried playing around with the hdr and quality settings. I've tried setting the storage to Phone or sd card.

I love this phone except for the disappointing pictures. Has anyone had any success with another camera app or any tips? Is this just a limitation of the phone? I would like to try a few things before I look into getting another phone.

E-mail client with text formatting on Android, how?

I am coming from Apple world, now I am an happy user of a Samsung S6. But I was writing an important email when I realized that my favorite email app, Gmail, was not allowing me to make a word in bold or to create a bullet list..crazy!! I checked online and unfortunately didn't find anything yet.. I tried the stock Samsung one and Outlook, both very nice but nothing there too.
Now reconsidering to go back to Apple again..but not before to ask in the XDA forum..

Do you have any idea for solving or why in 2015 there isn't this feature enabled per default yet?

[Q]Root a very secured tablet

Today my friend gave me a tablet and said its a trash. I said why than he said you will see.
Anyways i got the tablet and what the hell?
It has its own launcher, Internet browser that cant download anything,Hasn't a play store and a file manager, ADB shell is closed, Settings is uninstalled.
And also it has custom recovery when i try to enter recovery it shows"Do a factory reset" volume up means yes and volume down means no
When i plug in tablet when its closed it shows a logo that i need to plug in charger.
There are two ways that i can access it via my mac is

• Plug in tablet when doing a factory reset


• There is a menu that downloads apks from broken servers

Even though factory reset is very fast and after factory reset i need to re-register tablet or else i cant access launcher and the register servers are down
I am using zanti to redirect all downloads to my superbeam address
it says "file is downloading" but i cant see progress in superbeam and it doesnt install it

Bricked S3 i747 and not sure where to go from here

I wanted to update my S3 from whatever version it was on to the newest one available. I essentially wanted to start with a blank phone I went into the TWRP recovery and wiped cache, system, data, etc. I guess that was the entirely wrong way to do it because after that I installed the dirty unicorn rom (DU_d2att_5.1.1_20150723-1444.v9.4-UNOFFICIAL), and it got stuck on the boot screen. Thinking there was something wrong with the install I tried a factory reset and reflashing. It got stuck on "patching system image unconditionally" because there was something wrong with the system partition I think. I let it sit overnight and it stayed on this part.
The next day I read a bunch of things and thought it was just a bad ROM file or something. I went and downloaded the newest stable cyanogenmod (cm-12.1-20151117-SNAPSHOT-YOG7DAO1K6-d2att) to try and make it work. It installed without error and looked like it was going to work, i even wiped dalvik cache to up the chances of success. It also hung on the boot screen. I left it alone for a few hours and it still didn't progress.
After some more research I found a post that I thought would correct my partitions and make it bootable again. It was using adb commands to do something:
adb shell
mke2fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p3
mount -w -t ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p3
reboot
I did this from recovery and the first two commands worked. The third shot back an error. I tried modifying it according to other users who have found success and it didn't work for me. I went ahead and hit reboot anyway and now the phone doesn't respond. It doesn't power on, it only has a charging light when plugged in without the battery.
I have tried to fix this as well, I tried a slew of different debrick.img files on a 16gb sd card formatted with Win32 Disk Imager. None of those were able to get me back to download mode. This is where I'm stumped. Is there a debrick.img I'm supposed to use and haven't found yet? Or am I just SOL with this method?

Bug? No sound and vibration on incoming notifications (about 50% of the time)

Hi everyone,

before I take this into my list of OOS 2.1.2 bugs, I'd first like to evaluate whether I'm alone with this issue or not.

THE ISSUE: Approximately half the time, when a notification comes in on my phone - no matter from which app - the phone doesn't vibrate or play the corresponding notification sound.

WHAT SETTINGS I AM USING: I have been using "VibrateMode" for a while and have set the notifications slider to All/Vibrate/None, and this usually happens when vibration is on. So my first thought was, this might have something to do with VibrateMode overriding the original "priority notifications only" setting to "vibrate on notification".

WHAT HAPPENS: However, today this also happened when I had set my phone to "all notifications" and had the volume pulled up all the way. When I first received an email, the phone vibrated and played the notification sound. A little later another email came in, plus an update notification from Play Store and a news update from Google News & Weather. This time, however, there was no sound and no vibration, only the LED was blinking. This also happens frequently when receiving messages on FB Messenger. Half of the time, the phone doesn't vibrate when a new message comes in, but only the LED starts blinking (and the screen turns on thanks to Glimpse Notifications - otherwise I'd probably miss half of my incoming messages.)

So, is anybody else experiencing this bug?

How to fix dead android with warning triangle on LG Optimus L9?

Hello everybody.
Some time ago I decided to flash the stock rom of the LG Optimus L9 P769. After I made some changes to it myself. After flashing it my phone booted up and just displayed Security Error. After some failed attempts to fix it with fastboot, i decided to let it go as now it wouldn't boot up anymore. Is the G3 (D855) still worth it?

I came from the Note 4 (N910C). Had to sell it to fund my laptop (which was a priority) and settled for a Nexus 5. The N5's great, but rarely suits my need for battery life (2300ish mAh) and media usage (camera, below mediocre quality).

Now, with a limited budget in mind, I'm just looking for a new phone that has better battery life than my N5 (2 to almost 2.5hr SOT) and has better camera (also, retaining the responsiveness as well).

I hope you can guys help me decide: is the G3 still worth it? ;) Thanks!

P.s.

I'm a custom rom nut too so that's one feature i enjoy doing with my phone.

Issues with Video playback apps

I am having issues with some video playback in various apps on new stock Redmi Note 2:

- BBC iPlayer - freezes after 5 seconds of playback
- "All 4" starts stuttering (as if its buffering) after 2 minutes of playback - no chance its internet related
- on the BBC News app, the live news feed loses sound after around 1 minute

Any of that sound familiar? Any advice? Would a custom ROM potentially sort it, or might it be hardware?

On MI forums was reported on MI v4, we're at v7 - issue still being shipped with new devices. Mightily pissed off!

Which stock rom to choose?

Hi,

Ive had issues with audio, since installing Viper, Ive tried a factory reset but it persists. My thinking is viper writes something to the sys folder which isn't undone with a factory reset. Id like to try a fresh factory install of the rom to rule this out.

In the repository is see 4 stock roms for KK 4.4.4 quadcore 1024 x 600.

The variants are BN, JY, KGL, KLD.

How do I know which one I need?

Xperia S phone dead

Antutu bench with/without laggy android 6.0

Hi !

As you may know some of us find our 6.0 stock rom for xt1092 especially laggy, that's why i did a benchmark. I found that the GPU score was quite low ( which would explain the lags)
but i couldn't find online moto x2 bench on v6 antutu to compare, so it would be great if you could post yours here =). (on 6.0 ROM or others)

Can't flash cm13 nightly in twrp

I'm currently running cm 13 20151211 nightly on my D802. When i try to flash a new nightly in twrp it's stuck on the flashing screen. I've let it flash overnight and it was still flashing in the morning. When i reboot the device using the button combination it boots back into cm 13 20151211 nightly with xposed still installed so it hasn't even touched the system files. I'm using the latest blastagator twrp.

s5 neo freezes when alarm goes off

Hello :)

My s5 neo freezes when my alarm rings in the morning. It's been doing this for 3 days now. First I had to pull the battery, but found that the off button works if I hold it long enough. Then I can restart it.
And this is the only function that works. No buttons work to turn the alarm off, and the screen is frozen.

Any tips? Tried whiping the alarm app cache, but didnt help.

i recently purchased a new mobile phone micromax bolt q370 , was not aware at the time of buying it that it has another rom apart from stock android which is first touch, and it is quite irritating and slowing my phone.
i am able to disable it, but able to switch it from it to stock android but it again promt me with msg of choosing btw the 2 roms and also while sending txt it is a big time trouble also some pre loaded aaps are consuming much space.
i would like to ask that can i root this mobile to a stock android version?
it is showing that it has lollipop 5.1 installed in it also i would like to ask why i am unable to switch between the apps like my another android phones.

I know there are some forum about it, but it's for LG L70 or G2/3, and mine is L80, yet still I can't understand what they say, no step by step tutorial and it's so complicated master... Any way to enable band 40 on LTE?

My device is XT 1092, stock ROM. I bought it unlocked within my country, but the recently offered LTE services in my country support only band 40. So, is there some way I can flash some other modem/radios which have band 40 enabled?

Problems with Jolla Kernel!

Hey guys. Since yesterday I have cyanogenmod and jolla Kernel. Gut jolla Kernel makes problems.
1st: I have max cpu speed on 1512mhz. But: The processor has 100°C on asphalt, on stock around 80°C. In normal use 70°C, normally 50°C. I think the problem is the cpu voltage. Which setting is the best?
2nd: Very Slow Charging. My phone discharges even I browse! AND I CHARGE WITH 2.4AMP!!! Where can I set the charging speed? Btw, fast charging is activated.

Or is there a better kernel? Thanks in advance!

Problem with Recovery Mode

Hi everyone,

I have an unrooted Nexus 7 2013 (4G) tablet and have recently made the OTA update to Android 6.0.1.
After updating I wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache in Recovery Mode.

To bring up the stock recovery menu:

While holding down Power, press Volume Up.
Now you can navigate with the volume keys and select with the power button.
So to reboot the device simply navigate to reboot system and press the power button.
The key combination to bring up the menu may not be identical on all devices. If its not working to bring up the menu try simultaneously pressing all three buttons (Vol Up, Vol Down, & Power) at the same, and repeat this a few times until it works.

This key combination no longer brings me into Recovery Mode.
Sometimes I can reach Bootloader, but I cannot get into the Recovery Mode to wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache.

Is there another way top get into there (preferablly without rooting)?

Android Wear issue with Android 6.0

I updated my OnePlus One to Android 6.0 and I've encoutered an issue with the two ROMs I tried (Ressurection Remix and AICP).
When I want to pair my watch, the app on the phone freezes, and the only thing I can do is forcing the reboot by pushing the on/off button during 10 seconds.
So my watch is unusable as long as Wear app won't work properly.
Has anyone encoutered this issue ?

Root and Install TWRP on Xiaomi MI 4i without using PC [Guide]

Here is how to root Xiaomi MI 4i on MIUI 6 / MIUI 7 Lollipop update. The best part is, you don’t have to install a custom kernel just to gain root access on your mobile. We will be using a latest release of SuperSU for rooting this mobile. You can now root MIUI6 / MIUI 7 on Xiaomi MI 4i without using PC using the tutorial below. All you need to do is to download some files which I will mention below.


NOTE: This will only work on MIUI Chinese Developer ROM. Make sure you have installed it OR get MIUI 7 Chinese devloper ROM from here .

This Root allows you to explore system apps and even modify them to your specific need. This will help you to get ported features by developers on your phone and even give you the opportunity to modify yourself. Running low on space? You can delete unnecessary system apps and gather up some useful space all with rooting your phone. This could be useful for budget Android phones that don’t come with a lot of internal storage.

Step by Step Instructions :

Step 1 : First of all you need to download and install an App from Google Play Store which is popularly known as Flashify. (Get it from here!)

NOTE: Give Root access to Flashify App using default Security App on MIUI 6/7 ROM.

Step 2 : Download TWRP and SuperSU Zip file in your mobile from here :

• [RECOVERY] TWRP 2.8.7.0 Touch Recovery for Mi 4i


• Latest SuperSU from Chainfire

Step 3 : Extract the TWRP 2.8.7.0 zip file in your mobile using file manager like ES File Manager.

NOTE: Do not extract SuperSu Zip. (It is Flashable)

Step 4 : Now Open Flashify App that you have downloaded in Step 1

Step 5 : Select Flash Image file and Choose twrp-2.8.7.0-ferrari.img file and Flash it. Now Reboot your device and you are almost done.

Step 6 : Switch off your device again and press Volume Down + Power Button simultaneously. Now you will be in TWRP Recovery Mode.

Step 7 : Tab on Install and navigate to SuperSU Zip file. Just flash it by swiping below and you are now completely done. Just Reboot your device.

That’s it! Your Xiaomi MI 4i has now been rooted on Android 5.0.2 official software update. Check for the SuperSU app in your apps list to verify.

To make sure you have correctly installed the above root method and it’s working, verify with Root Checker App.

Internal storage still 10806 mb after wipe/format

Hello,

I have wipe my internal storage because after installing custom rom i only have for about 2 GB free internal storage....
But after I wipe it, in TWRP there's only 10806 MB free of internal storage?!? Is this normal?

I install the custom rom again and then the system use 5,45 GB I think this is too much??

I hope someone can help me :)

hello , i have lg l90 phone with lollipop stock rom and i customized some system app's like lgincallui.apk and lgmusic.apk and some more..but problem is lgcontacts.apk .there is no way to copy this app from root without been corupted .i try with root browser and fx file explorer but apktool gives me error like "resources.arsc coud not be decoded" and if i try to extract it with 7 zip or winrar there is error message "crc failed resources.arsc file is corupted". does anybody know how to copy this file without been corupted. ......please help....thanks.

Now I looked up status 7 errors and how to fix, but none had pertained to my particular issue, so I figured I'd check before doing anything drastic. For some info, I have rooted, unlocked bootloader, flashed a custom recovery and rom, but when Marshmallow came out, I flashed stock image for 6.0 to my phone through nexus root toolkit, which removed custom recovery, flashed to stock, but kept bootloader unlocked. So now I'm on clean stock 6.0 and I received the OTA and I tried to install it and this is the message I get. Any ideas on how to get my phone to update? Oh, and BTW if it matters, I'm on T-Mobile. Is DUN really still necessary for tethering?

Installation steps for CWM/TWRP recovery in S2

Hi All,

I am using Samsung S2-GT-i9100 with CM 12.1. Since the google play services and play store are not working( I am not able to resolve this) so I am trying to flash the CM 12.1 and gapps again. But I am not able to install CWM recovery. Everytime it is going by default to Cyanogen Recovery.

Can someone please help in providing the resolution steps and also help in resolving the issues related to google play services and play store.

Which custom rom should i use!

Hi guys,

have been using htc desire 816 for like 1.3 year and it is still working great , just some issues with camera ! anyone else having this problem ? I mean what you do to customize the setting for better performance? I see nowadays a lot of noise in the pictures and not very clear as well! Also thinking of giving the custom roms a try which one is best you think in case of performance & design :D

What are the must use app to make it stand out , as you can see the device is old :P and we have to compete with giant devices , so not buying those but using this one to come close in taking selfies and photos and using apps as well.

Also one last thing after the last lollipop update looks like the storage is eaten up by something how to increase the space like before! cause i can hardly install 20-22 apps in total and it fills up!

[TUTORIAL] How to lock(relock) bootloader P8 Lite ALE-L21

Hello folks,
After many unsuccessful attempts to lock the bootloader again finally found a solution. First and foremost it is necessary to say that success has been achieved on the device ALE-L21 Dual SIM Europe edition and original firmware C432B170 (Europe) installed as OTA update!!! Now I will describe the steps.
1. If you rooted device- make full unroot!
2. If you have TWRP remove it and reverse to original recovery!!!
3. Downgrade to C432B052 (Dual SIM / Europe)
4. Install last original firmware via OTA update!!! (In my case is C432B170 (Europe)
5. Connect device on PC
a) Open command prompt and type:

fastboot reboot bootloader

fastboot oem relock ################ (you unlock code)

Bricked my 6p and computer wont recognise it

Ok, so i managed to brick my nexus 6p, it will not boot into android, stupid as i am i do not have a backup on the phone, and on top of that, windows does not recognise my device in bootloader mode. Of course i have tried installing USB drivers, but strangely my computer will not even recognise that im plugging in a USB device, i/e it wont even make the USB connected sound.
Not really sure what to do, but im hoping anyone could maybe help me out, thanks!

How do you get the ViperRing icon themes to work on Viperone Rom?

I got the ViperRing icon pack from the VenumHub for the ViperOne Rom. Its really neat however I noticed that the default icons on your homescreen such as internet browswer, calls, messages and camera are stock, they dont have the viperring like the others. Is there a way to enable these or tweak that ring on any icons?

RRO Layer lollipop 5.1

I have yet to see a thread about RRO Layers for lollIpop so I would like to report that RRO layers are indeed working on 5.1 lollipop for h811. I'm running xtreme rom and about 75 percent of layers themes work. Third party apps theme properly and only the notifications theme. That about it. Most system apps are a no go and nav bar themes dont apply. I'm assuming that they also work on other variants of the G4 as well. Try it at your own risk.
