Upgrade to Moto X Pure from Samsung G5?

I have the Galaxy S5 and have been thinking of going to a new phone.
Im wondering if going to the Moto X Pure is a step forward or backwards?
I do like the idea of no bloat and it being unlocked.
I have been using Samsung phones for years, S4 and now S5. Im sure the Moto a lot different, that could be a good thing or maybe bad.
Has anyone made the change from S5 to Pure? If so are you happy or do you regret it?
