I was always having a gps issue with my g4, icon would always be in status bar and drain the battery, i tried all the things mentioned when i searched and some worked some didn't , i finally installed a cm based rom and noticed my gps worked flawlessly so i pulled the file "com.qualcomm.location.apk" file from root/system/priv-app and saved to sd then restored my stock rom backup and found the file in the same place, renamed the file extension to .bak. And copied the cm pulled file to the folder, fixed permissions and rebooted, have not had the problem since.
